Dr. Ramendra Bakshi

Dr. (Ms) Ramendra Bakshi is a Senior Consultant, Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery in New Delhi. Her main areas of interest include lamellar corneal surgery, stem cell transplant and refractive surgery. Currently designated as Medical Director at the Netra Vision eye care centre, she is also associated as visiting faculty at Eye7 Hospital (Lajpat Nagar) and Max Hospital (Gurgaon).

Dr. Ramendra Bakshi's job functions entail surgical management of a range of corneal pathologies, ocular surface disorders and corneal refractive surgeries. Performing keratoplasties routinely - both penetrating and lamellar (DALK, DSAEK) - she has competed more than 1500 transplants so far. She has performed thousands of cataract surgeries (phacoemulsification/MICS) and laser refractive surgeries, and procedures such as iLasik, ReLEx Smile, INTACS, ICL, CXL, etc.

Dr. Bakshi has a string of impressive qualifications to her name. Besides her MBBS, she has also completed her MS in Ophthalmology, and has successfully undergone comprehensive research and clinical fellowships in cornea and anterior segment, at the Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow.

After completing her MS, Dr. Bakshi was stationed as Senior Resident Medical Officer at Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi, from October 2004 to March 2005. She spent the next two years on fellowships at Sankara Nethralaya, which she successfully completed in 2007, following which she took up the post of Consultant, Cornea Services at the same institute from April 2007 to March 2008. Her next stint was also as Consultant - Cornea Services, when she returned to Venu Eye Institute for another two years, up to March 2010. She then joined the Centre for Sight, New Delhi, as Consultant, Cornea and Anterior Segment Services from April 2010 to May 2014. In June 2014, she was appointed Medical Director of Netra Vision.

Dr. Bakshi has won several awards for her contributions and presentations at medical meets and conferences, which she regularly attends, either as a delegate or as invited faculty member. She has written over 50 papers and articles, which have found their way to being published in peer-reviewed journals and other publications. Besides writing, she has a talent for cartooning too, having been involved as an amateur cartoonist for medical journals and newsletters brought out by the institutes she has been associated with.
